Miriamele's handmaid who later becomes Geloë's companion. After she is attacked by Ingen Jegger's dogs, she ceases to speak.

She has a unique connection to the road of dreams and prefers it to the real world.

History[]

Prior to the Events of The Dragonbone Chair[]

Leleth acts as Miriamele's handmaiden both at Meremund and the Hayholt.

The Dragonbone Chair[]

Leleth escapes the Hayholt with Miriamele. In the heart of the Aldheorte, she is attacked by Ingen Jegger's dogs and nearly mortally wounded. Miriamele, Simon, and Binabik deliver her to Geloë's cabin and the wise woman treats her wounds.

When the group leaves to journey to Naglimund, they leave Leleth behind in Geloë's care.

Stone of Farewell[]

Chapter 3: Oath-Breaker[]

Leleth appears in a vision of Simon’s. She is used by Geloë as a conduit to reach the young man. The wise woman describes Leleth as having strange abilities, before instructing Simon to go to the Stone of Farewell.

Chapter 9: Cold and Curses[]

Leleth appears alongside Geloë when the wise woman reveals herself to Josua’s group of refugee in the Aldheorte. As with the wise woman, the child joins the prince’s group.

Chapter 13: The Stallion Clan[]

Leleth is taken prisoner by the Stallion Clan with the rest of Josua’s group.

Chapter 21: Prince of Grass[]

After Josua has won his comrades their freedom, Geloë leaves Leleth in the care of Gutrun while she journeys ahead.

Chapter 24: Dogs of Erchester[]

Leleth awakens her travelling companions by crying. Deornoth notes that this is the first sound he has heard the child make. In response to being asked what is wrong, she points to the horizon and indicates the approaching storm clouds.

Later, when Geloë returns to the group, Leleth runs to her and embraces her.

Leleth arrives at the Stone of Farewell with the others.

Chapter 3: East of the World[]

Leleth develops a bond with Jeremias, and he is often left to take care of her.

Chapter 5: Wasteland of Dreams[]

Geloë summons Simon and Binabik to the Observatory on Sesuad'ra to assist her and Leleth in contacting Tiamak through the road of dreams. As Simon arrives at the observatory, he sees that Leleth is in a waking-sleep-like state, but Geloë informs him that she is already travelling the road of dreams a ways and that she thinks that is where the child is most happy. In confirmation of this, when Simon enters the Road of Dreams he sees the ethereal dream-Leleth flitting around like a sparrow, dancing, smiling, and laughing. Leleth guides Simon through the Road of Dreams until he and the others coalesce around the image of a sleeping Tiamak. Geloë speaks to him through Leleth and instructs him to come to them at Sesuad'ra.

Chapter 20: Travelers and Messengers[]

When Aditu arrives at camp, she takes an interest in Leleth and the two are often seen taking walks together.

Chapter 27: Tears and Smoke[]

After Geloë flees Sesuad'ra to die in the Aldheorte forest, Leleth falls into a coma. A few hours later she begins to speak, but it is Geloë's words that come forth. She tells them that Leleth is with her in the dark place before death, though she knows not how, and warns about "false messengers" before saying her final goodbye. After Geloë is gone, Leleth returns to a state of unresponsiveness.

Chapter 28: Ghost Moon[]

In a vision of the Road of Dreams, Simon sees Leleth with Geloë, who once again tries to warn him about false messengers.

Chapter 30: A Thousand Leaves, A Thousand Shadows[]

Miriamele recalls that back in the days when the child acted as her handmaiden, Leleth had had vivid, intricate, and often frightening dreams

Chapter 36: A Wound in the World[]

Simon has a dream vision of Leleth, who appears to him as an animated version of the angel from atop Green Angel Tower. The pair sit astride her spire and Leleth tells him that he must "go very deep" if he wants to understand important things. This confuses Simon and he wakes up without having understood her meaning.

Chapter 43: An Ember in the Night Sky[]

Leleth speaks in the mind of Aditu, delivering the prophecy that she recites about Josua and Vorzheva's new born children.

Chapter 48: A Sleeping Dragon[]

While Simon is on the wheel, Leleth appears to him again in the form of the angel, though he does not recognize her. She shows him visions from history that she claims are part of "his story". As she leaves, Simon finally recognizes her and calls out, begging her to stay. She tells him that she has been "called to go on", and that she had waited for him for so long. A sense of Leleth finally being truly free comes over Simon and she is gone.

In the waking world, Leleth's body dies and she is buried by those who took care of her.
